Art is a peculiar thing.  It helps people to express what they are feeling and how they want people to perceive them. My theme is surface design. I added many details in order to give the on looker and fun sighting experience.  Examples of this are; my bowl which i used a sponging technique on the outside in blue in order to add detail to a plain art piece, a cup which I used stain to draw triangles around, and my teapot which i used the dripping technique to show movement and add design to the outside.

The bowl I made is clear all around and then on the outside I used a dark blue to sponge it. The dark blue ended up turning out kind of light, It looks as if the outside of my bowl is supposed to be a cloud.  The next, my cup, was very plain it was just a usual cup with no handle on it or anything. So, I decided that since it was a plain piece i could make it more detailed with glaze without it being over whelming. For this cup I decided to use the blue stain and make triangles that fit together in one line all the way around. Lastly, my teapot came out amazing. For my teapot I glazed it in white because i knew that white has a tendency to run. I then mixed black glaze with purple in order to make it lighter and dripped it around the rim of the lid and the teapot itself.

For my theme projects i decided to make very simple projects on the wheel, besides my teapot. For most of the projects that fit my theme i spent less than 5 minutes on the wheel making them. I would then take off a lot of clay while footing them to make them as light and as thin as possible with out exploding. I did this because it forced me to come up with something interesting for glaze. I prefer to do complicated designs on a simple project because i like a lot of color and painting on a ceramics piece is really fun to me.

A lot of my projects can be included in my theme because of the system i have just described.  My theme "surface design" is all about making something simple look complicated just by using different glazing techniques.  By completing projects on the wheel quickly i had more time to think about how i would like to glaze it. I used techniques like; sponging, dripping,  stain, painting, over lapping colors, and contrasting colors.  This made for a very interesting set of pieces. All off my art work is unique and different.

In conclusion, I made very simple projects in order to do complicated glazes. This made it so that all of my projects are different and interesting to look at.

What is it?
My theme is that all of my projects are detailed in order to entertain the eye.

How it was made.
Either with glaze or by detailing the outside of a project when it is wet.

Why projects are important to theme and why it matters
It makes a project more interesting to look at because there is always something else to look at .
